Monday, September 14th, 2009I’m reading articles on tagging behaviour and I suddenly felt a doubt about the whole idea of tagging.
We have had tags for several years now and I’m just not seeing them as revolutionizing anything. Seriously, do you ever use tags to find anything on a social website? Or am I the only one who still […]
LittleBigPlanet
Friday, October 10th, 2008Damn Media Molecule and their innovative, wonderful looking game LittleBigPlanet which will only be available on the PS3. I don’t really want to plunk down 400 dollars for another console just to play one game, especially not in the kind of economic downturn we are going through at the moment, but that game looks so […]
Delicious has got me confused
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008Remember how I was complaining about Del.icio.us‘ new user interface? When I upload a URL at work, I can’t see my tags when I’m trying to tag. So I thought that they had removed suggestive tagging completely.
Apparently not. I uploaded a URL from home and on that machine, I have access to my tags and […]
The new del.icio.us user interface
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008Is anyone else annoyed with Delicious’s new user interface? I’m also not too impressed with the new look and feel, but that’s a question of taste, or it may just be the shock of the new.

2collab
Friday, July 25th, 2008What clever marketing. Get people interested in a project by inviting them to play a game.
I received an email this morning inviting me to play word2gether, a “social word-game for scientists”. I don’t think I will, though, as it requires that I register to play and I’m kind of tired of giving my information to […]
Tag clouds
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008An interesting article by Fernanda B. Viégas and Martin Wattenberg entitled Tag clouds and the case for vernacular visualization published in Interactions, vol. XV issue 4 (July-August) 2008, pp. 49-52. They present a history of tag clouds, the technique’s flaws (oh, interesting, a study shows that people fare worse at understanding when presented with tag […]
Wordle
Monday, June 16th, 2008Wordle is a toy for generating word/tag clouds. You can change the font, the layout, and the colour of the text.
Here’s one that somebody created one for Tolkien’s Silmarillion:
Amusing, but not useful as a tag cloud since you can’t click on the individual words.
