Collaborative editing software

A couple of finds over at ReadWriteWeb for editing groupware.

First up, Squad, a web-based collaborative editor aimed squarely at programmers. There’s a basic free version but if you need more, you’ll have to be ready to pay up a monthly bill.

The other tool is called FlockDraw and this one is specifically for drawing. One big caveat: Sarah and I just tested it and if there is any kind of delay or lag, then the end product is completely different on the two computers. Thus the red that I was drawing on the screen appeared so long after Sarah was drawing blue that her screen ended up red (my drawing got drawn on top of hers) while mine ended up blue (her drawing got drawn on top of mine). In other words, it’s a fun tool, but I wouldn’t use it to create anything important.
