Visualization showing social websites and their popularity

By sylvie | December 7, 2009

Over at Focus, they’ve got a visualization of various social networking websites, when they came into being, and how popular they are. At first, I was a bit confused by the way they displayed the data until I realized that they were showing how popular the sites are at the present moment combined with when they first appeared. Am I the only one to be fooled by that? My first thought was that they were showing how popular the sites were when they first appeared. It seems like an easy mistake to make since their explanation is minimalist. Anyway, still interesting even if I think they could have made that clearer.
