Collaborative writing on the iPhone?
By sylvie | June 18, 2007
I heard this morning on Radio-Canada that the iPhone is not going to be offered in Canada on its official US release date, which sucks for Canuck technophiles (sorry, D’Arcy!). Not that I was planning on getting one for myself - not at that price anyways - unless it’s for research work and the CRC pays for it. Which I doubt.
On the other hand, I might actually be able to make a case for it: Christopher Allen, the developer of SynchroEdit, thinks that his collaborative editing tool might be portable to the iPhone. He says:
(…) I’ve decided to begin investigating what type of social software apps could be highly useful on the iPhone and that aren’t being served by the existing web 2.0 community. I am also going to continue investigating the technical issues of developing web apps for the iPhone
If you are interested as well, I invite you to participate in the new iPhoneWebDev community. It should be a great resource for everyone interested in getting in on the ground floor with this new web technology. I have also begun tagging relevant web pages in del.icio.us with the tag iphonewebdev—I hope that others will begin to use this tag as well.
Hm, social software for the iPhone. Sounds like an interesting research project. Ah well, it’s all moot, since Apple hates us. Sigh.
